Bashers vs Pudong/Dulwich Lumberjack, 4 July 2004

SCC Newsletter Report by the Anti-Basher:
Buoyed by their first victory, the Bashers came into this match with yet more new signings against a severely depleted Pudong side fielding several last minute stand-ins – including the face of SFC and star of Xinjiang cricket, Sadik Hoxur.

The Bashers got off to a great start, grabbing the key wickets of Mark Bernhard and Jason Bird with not many runs on the board. However with Pudong in trouble, Ainsley Mann, with a battling 31, and David Boyle with a superb unbeaten 96, shared in a partnership of 101 to help take Puding to a competitive 178-5.

Despite the fight-back from Pudong the Bashers were in confident mood, but suffered a succession of early set-backs as Steve Gallagher, Jason Bird and Trevor Barsenbach (2-3) set about the Bashers batting line-up. Once Paul Turner was out for 25 they never really looked like chasing down the total, and although James Gooding (35) and Larry Langodn (35*) briefly gave the Bashers hope, they eventually fell for 142 all out.
