Lumberjacks from October 2004

Part of the research into the Bashers Honours Board performances has unearthed these short match reports (thanks largely to Inquisition finally checking his email), which should be added to the Bashers Lumberjack archives.

The Emancipated XI vs. The Under The Thumb XI, October 2004

Due to the appalling weather, this match was reduced to 20 overs. The Emancipated won the toss and batted first. Paul “Shrek” Turner, the most recently emancipated man on the team, proceeded to smash a furious century off around 50 balls, and aided by contributions from the Anti-Basher, Mike Tsesmelis (39), and Deepak, took the game almost out of reach of UTTB. Requiring just over 9 an over in pouring rain, UTTB showed they would clearly rather be at home doing the washing up, and were all out in just 11 overs – Ian “Compass” Syer destroyer-in-chief with 2 wickets, a run out and an excellent catch.

So one match apiece and all to play for next year! Some good news for the UTTB XI though… the rumour mill suggests that club pin-up, Sanjay Anugula, is coming under increasing pressure from back home to wed… watch this space!

The October Test, October 2004

Unfortunately I don’t know the result of the test, other than it was again a one-wicket win… and congratulations also to John “Inquisition” L’Epagniol on his maiden half-century! I’d also like to say well done and thank you again to Pete Cain for organizing this and the function afterwards. We hope to see all the new guys it attracted featuring regularly in future!
