Fifty Singles’ All-Run 4 Challenge

Fifty Singles’ All-Run 4 Challenge

Can’t hit a boundary? Tired of not scoring big runs? Here is a technique that will add a dimension to your run scoring ability.

To establish who is fleet of foot between the wickets, veteran single taker Fisty Cymbals has put forward a challenge to determine the fastest Basher.

The rules are simple, each entrant has to complete four timed regulation runs on a standard wicket in normal batting apparel to qualify.

The times will be put into a league table to establish which of the Bashers is Swifty Nimblesand who can claim the title of Gently Bumbles.

To make things more interesting Mr. Cymbals will set a benchmark time on March 11 to dispel the myth of his lack of pace. Anyone beating this time will receive a drink from those who do not. These drinks will be procured during the Bashers’ end of season AGM. Any shortfall in drinks will be financed by Fisty himself and he will receive any left-over drinks should the average land in his favour.

The prize for the winner of the competition will be a dinner for two at a location determined by the victor, kindly donated by Mr.Cymbals himself, who has also agreed not to attend said dinner as your +1.

Rules

·        Four legal runs must be made. Starting attitude must be that of a standing non-striking batsman.

·        The runs must be made on a standard regulation wicket with a minimum of four Bashers as witnesses

·        The entrant must wear standard cricketing apparel including long trousers, cricket shoes or trainers, two batting pads and a regulation adult sized bat.

·        A timekeeper and two square leg umpires, one for each crease, should be appointed to ensure there are no short runs. The timekeeper can, if necessary, also be the umpire at one end.

·        Timing will start from when the entrant or his bat leave the crease from a standing start.

·        Timing will end when any part of the entrant or his bat are grounded behind the same crease after completing the four runs.

·        A maximum of three attempts are allowed by each entrant, the slowest of the times being deleted.

·        Times should be submitted through the matchday captains.

·        All entrants must be paid-up members of the Bashers for 2018.

·        The competition will run on match days from March 11 until the last game before the AGM. Entrants can also use the back net at Cages, provided there are ample witnesses.

·        Any decisions are final at the behest of the committee.

Good luck. May the fours be with you.
