A Pleasurable day to open the Season – Sunday 24th March, 2019 (Pleasure VS China Zalmi)

Pleasure was the last to kick start their division games, but they were by far the least.  The day started out with the usual meeting at cages, sorting the kit and pies in addition to some eager beavers arriving way earlier than needed.

With the squad arriving on time to get the coach to the match, the bus left on time as we started our journey to yet another match.  The usual pre-match sledging amongst the bashers, in addition to smiles all around was the picture painted on the bus as Pleasure seeks to be the first team in the league to defeat China Zalmi (would hereon be referred to as leopards).

As per usual, Captain Bambi lost the toss which saw Pleasure fielding first and taking the game to the Leopards.  Warcry and Bambi opened the bowling which troubled the opening pair of the Leopards.  The Openers who looked unnerved as they rushed to the crease now assembling themselves should have been sent back just as fast as they came.  This was almost a reality as Pleasure could have had two early dismissals however, it was not to be so today.

Not long after though, Bambi sent the middle stump of one of the openers cart wheeling leaving him to ask “what happened?” as he walked back to the dugout.  The Leopards offer some resistance to the Pleasure bowling, having their Captain at the crease.  However, some tight bowling on both ends added some necessary pressure to the Leopards and they started to crack.  Last year’s leading wicket taker, Skiddy, returned to form by keeping the batsmen at bay by bowling some tight spells.  He was partnered by Rooty who also contributed nicely as the pair made it hard for the opposition to score easily.  After this pair, Bambi then went with Paps and Sensation in either desperation or in hope that they would continue along the same line as the bowlers who preceded them.  New comer, Houdini also bowled very well as the Bashers completed the 30 overs with Leopards making just over 190.

It was time for Pleasure to bat, and the opening batsmen were Rug muncher and Hasina. These two played some elegant shots as they scored freely and at will against the Leopard’s bowling.  However, Hasina was dismissed which brought Paps to the crease.  Paps stay at the crease was short lived, and the next basher to come was Sensation.  Rug Muncher and Sensation kept things at bay, with Rug Muncher diving on the wicket like a Olympic Swimmer doing the 50m dash on several occasions.  Rug Muncher then was dismissed trying to rotate the strike which brought Nuts to the crease.  Several partnerships were made through the Innings of Pleasure, but the last wicket partnership between the Bambi and Warcry gave pleasure much hope as Pleasure was just within runs, of defeating Leopards.  But as the cosmos would have it, their defeat was not to be today as we lost the game by 8 runs.

Yet another great match between Pleasure and Leopards as the bashers eagerly wait for the day to defeat Leopards and take the cup.  Stay tune and locked to cricHQ, it is about to be a Pleasure.
