Dear Club reps

Please forward this onto all your individual club members. Please instruct them to contact me directly on this email address for anyone who may be interested in playing the Centaurs CC here in Shanghai and also participating in the Japan tour to play against their National representative teams.

This year promises to be a cracker for the SCC both in terms of visiting clubs and some high profile tours away. So onto business we go …

1. The Opium Bowl – Centaurs CC (HK) vs SCC Dragons: April 4th & 5th (Shanghai)

This is a new fixture and a direct result of our hugely successful tour of Hong Kong last year in December. The Centaurs have booked their flights and are ready to take the Dragons on in a 50-over fixture on Saturday April 4th. They will also be a T20 clash on the Sunday from around 11am. As this is our first time ever to be hosting the Centaurs CC lets make sure we have a strong squad and also show them great hospitality on the Friday and Saturday nights that they are here. Please guys get back to me asap regarding this fixture so that we can finalise an XI for both Saturday and Sunday. The T20 on the Sunday is going to be a much more social event and the Centaurs have said that they don’t mind playing against a social team that day.

2. One Day Internationals x 2 – SCC Dragons vs Japan National XI: April 30th to May 4th/5th (Tokyo to Mt. Fuji, Japan)

Please see the attachment here for full details. The sport’s governing body in Japan, the JCA, were so impressed at how we hosted the Japanese Women’s team last year at the Shanghai Sixes that they are returning the favour. It is not often that a sorry bunch of lads like us would get the opportunity to play a National XI but JCA has invited us to play 2 ODi’s against their National Mens XI just before they go off to World Cup qualifiers and also 2 ODI’s for the Pirates against the Ladies National Team and the U19 Development squad. Guys, this is truly a phenomenal opportunity and probably a tour that will happen only once in a lifetime. We will be playing at their national academy grounds at the foot of Mt. Fuji and all wives/girlfriends are welcome too. The Pirates already have quite a few confirmed. The more of us from this group that can go, the better we will perform in what is envisioned to be a very high profile tour for the SCC. Its only 6 weeks away so please let me on this one quite urgently too.

Once again, we have an opportunity in 2009 to raise the SCC’s flag even higher than last year’s unprecedented achievements. Please let me know asap about the Centaurs CC weekend here in Shanghai and also the Japan tour after reading the attached document. Please let me know directly who is available for the fixtures and tours.

Here is the text from the document .
