Bashers Pleasure vs. the Leopards
24 April @ Dulwich
With the sun finally shining, the much-delayed Bashers Pleasure season got underway with a combination of new-comers,returnees and last season’s stalwarts.
Skipper Bugs won the toss and chose to bat opening up with recent Hard Dogs signing, Shaun ‘Golden Shears’ Lear and Gary ‘Pothole’ Dubberley. They found the going slow against an accurate Leopards attack and Golden Shears parted for a duck, completely missing a well pitched up straight one. Pothole and returnee Tony ‘Badabing’ Finnochiaro kept the score ticking over without ever managing to truly break free from the bowlers grasp.
After the 15 over break, wickets fell steadily with a few crafted scores in the teens from Pothole, Kaylan ‘Sinbad’ D’Silva and Andy ‘Tank’ Scott but only enough to leave Pleasure defending a total of 129.
The bowling started very promisingly with Sam ‘Swahili’ Finnerty removing the first three batsmen and all the catches being held in the field. Deano ‘Loosey’ Lapthorne also made excellent use of the new ball. The game was well poised until the 16th over when with six wickets down, the Leopards began to go for their shots with a number of sixes and fours being compiled in quick succession. With seven wickets down, the Leopards reached their target with a number of overs to spare.
One more wicket down and the game would have been ours and so in retrospect, this was a far better performance than last year’s fixture and gave the team great confidence to build on for the rest of the campaign.
The fielding looked sharp and there were solid, workmanlike performances from most of the bowlers used. Sinbad had a couple of great overs and found both bounce and turn which promises a few fireworks for games to come.

Wonderful all encompassing summary of the days events. Splendid.
as we got drunker saturday night, myself and shears came to the conclusion that they were counting wides as two runs. moral victory to the bashers.
Excellent team spirit & in the tradition of Bashers CC even more spirit consumed after the game....looking forward to our 1st of many wins !!!!
It was great to get back to playing some cricket! I will never question the skipper's fielding positions again! haha... Great to get a bowl out there- Oh and it's D'Silva!!!
Who's Bad? SINBAD!
If they were counting wides as 2, should be clear on score sheet! Zeb's getting a bouncer from me next game.
