The Shanghai Gaelic Football Club has invited SCC members to participate in the Gaelic Football All Nations Cup Tournament on March 8th. The aim of the event is to introduce people to the sport who have never played before! Last year some of the Bashers put together an International Barbarians team, which was a lot of fun.
Gaelic Football is a fast moving and exciting game requiring a lot of different skills. Both the hands and feet are used to play a round ball similar in size to soccer but slightly heavier. It is very similar in ways to Aussie rules without the full contact tackling found in Aussie Rules (or Rugby). The necessary skills will be quickly picked up by those proficient in other field games. We’ll run open training sessions for 2 weeks leading up to the tournament for anyone who wants to practice beforehand.
The tournament will be blitz style with each team having a minimum of 4 games spread over the afternoon. Games will be between 10 and 14 minutes in duration. Your support would be much appreciated by the Shanghai Gaelic Football Club.
