It’s that time of year again. Sun, sea, sand and maybe a bit of cricket at the Sanya Super Sevens.
Only three Bashers made the spring Sanya tournament last year (picking up three trophies along the way), let’s try and push for a better turnout this time around.
The Sanya pitch is based right outside an Intercontinental hotel, which provides a buffet on the day (burgers and beer). The ground is literally a 30-meter stroll from the beach so it’s a perfect excuse to drag your Geisha along.
The date for the actual cricket is Friday, April 6. It’s a holiday weekend and the expected days off are Thursday 5, Friday 6 and Saturday 7, the Sunday will be a ‘make-up’ day at work.
Schedule will likely be
Thursday night – welcome drinks
Friday – cricket and after party
Saturday – bocce on the beach then fly home
If you’re new to the Bashers, our tours are not club-funded and you do need to be a paid-up member to play. Costs vary depending on destination and dates. For Sanya on this holiday weekend, flights (right now) are priced at about CNY2,500 – CNY3,000. You’ll also need to factor in hotel accommodation (a few hundred a night). The tournament fee will likely be around CNY300.
