Dragons vs Japanese Men’s National Side

Match will be against the Japanese Men’s National team. This will be against a serious team, as we will be Japan’s last warm-up match befoe they depart for the Men’s World Cricket League tournament in Samoa from September 9-23.

Matches offered on both the Saturday 1st September and Sunday 2nd Sept. The trip is down for August 31st (will need at least the afternoon off – recommend the whole day). Location will be their new ground at Tanuma High School, Sano (about an hour outside of Tokyo).

Option 1:
A full-on weekend of nothing but cricket- They originally recommended 50 overs each day. I suggest we can either do a 50 on the Saturday and a 30 on the Sunday, or maybe we can even suggest 2 x 40 overs. They will be fine with either, but they really prefer at least one 50 over match (same as the format they will playing in World Cricket League tournament).

Option 2:
Alternative, as many have not had a party in Tokyo before, fly in Thursday night, 30 overs on the Friday (they are also fine with this) followed by 50 overs on the Saturday. Then party in downtown Tokyo on Saturday night, with a early afternoon check-out followed by an afternoon of R&R (around the pool?) and an early trip home Sunday evening. This option may limit availability as it would also affect our Thursday (early knock-off from work to get an evening flight).

Cost:
Flights: appr. 3,500 rmb incl. tax (possibly cheaper)
Transport: USD200/head (IE: USD 1,100 total for the whole bus each way, regardless of heads on bus)
Hotel: USD 50.00 (club has offered this as accommodation – expect it to be Spartan by China standards at this price). A night in Tokyo could be several times this.
This will cost us about the same as a weekend Sixes in HK guys.

Tour Sponsorship:
We have four weeks in which to come up with sponsors, and we can print logos on our team shirts for a tour-specific shirt for those who are willing to sponsor (we will need to fork out for new shirts next year anyway and I still have a couple of dozen of the old shirts left which can be used for this tour).

Hotels: Hotel chain to offer us free rooms/cheap rates in Tokyo

Airlines: To offer us free tickets/cheap tickets

Please use your networks (Hotel group executives, airline GM’s etc) to suggest a suitable target as sponsor. I would like to approach specific targets with specific proposals.

Immediate and FIRM expression of interest required:
Regards interest in the above tour, and assuming we will have no sponsors for a total of around USD800-1,000/head weekend spend, please offer your FIRM commitment to this tour today, as I must respond with a definite acceptance of the offer by tomorrow if we want to take up this offer. Tour selectors will then make the call if we have enough interest of the right level to go ahead. Responses should be received by 9am tomorrow morning at the latest (you may still be eligible if you haven’t responded by then, but a lack of response now will endanger the chances of our accepting the offer to tour).
