Want to earn some cash umpiring?

As Iâ€™m sure we would all agree, umpires play a crucial role in ensuring good, fair and enjoyable games that are played in the right spirit. As part of the SCCâ€™s efforts to raise standards across the board, we are now offering to pay umpires who are able to commit to umpiring a whole game. This is the next step towards having a full panel of neutral high quality umpires.

SCC Newsletter Report by the Anti-Basher: The first day of the test was washed out, but the second day became a run fest. The President’s XI amassed 320 in their 40 overs, with Paul Turner, Steve Aikman, Mike Tsesmelis and Denzyl Allwright all reaching the retirement score of 50, and Chad Blewitt also contributing 32. For the PC XI Pete Cain tool 2-38 off his 4 overs, Neal Watkins 2-19 from 3, and John L’Epagniol and Sanjay Anugula bowled economically going for 18 and 15 runs respectively.

SCC Newsletter Report from Paul "Shrek" Turner: Maharajahs 157/9 defeated League XI 111/10 The first game of the season was greeted with magnificent weather as the mercury pushed its way into double figures and the north wind took the day off tempting us to believe that Spring had arrived.Indeed a portentious beginning if there ever was one, as if cricket Gods were smiling upon the SCC League.

SCC Newsletter Report by the Anti-Basher: This was the 3rd annual international Hong Kong Cricket Festival (held the week before the prestigious Hong Kong International Sixes), and featured 27 teams from around Asia. For the first time there was a social 'Spoon' division and also a ladies division, with 18 teams competing in the Open division. Stronger versions of all the teams visting the Shanghai Sixes were there, including the Subconts, Lamma, Toofan and HKCC.

SCC Newsletter Report by Omega: An ambitious schedule of 14 games proved a little too much... a few stragglers delayed the first game, and the schedule never recovered to offer the 4 games for each team. A big congrats to the Aussie Rules boys who turned up on time (if not rested and sober) and had a good showing in their first game. Apologies to those who only played 2 games, and a big thanks for those who played for 2 teams early on to get it all going. Next week’s schedule will have 3 games per team in what we hope (if everyone turns up on time) to keep on time but more of that later.
