Lumberjack

Bashers Social Sixes Match Report, 24 November

Bashers Social Sixes 137 vs NCA Academy 81 It was a miserable Shanghai day as four bashers (S.S., Tank, Sick Note, and Post-Op) assembled at the Camel at high noon. Spanner and the Gear were there to provide moral support before we left while watching the boxing. The taxi ride out was relatively calm as Sick Note called "shotgun" and directed the taxi driver admirably, that is, until the driver played chicken with a truck in the lane leading up to the Arena. We managed to arrive in time, and joined Long Dong in surveying our opponents warm up. Paps arrived just in time, after a flurry of messages and phone calls (claiming that he drove this way or that way or wasn't used to this particular route).

Leisure Lumberjack September 15th

On a hot Sunday, later than usual, or so I'm told, the Bashers met at the Camel to take on the Dulwich Knights at Shanghai Rugby Club. As the day unfolded a clear theme developed to the extent that this lumberjack will be known as the 'you've embarrassed yourself lumberjack'. At the end we will have a full account of who embarrassed themselves and how much.

The Birth of the Lumberjack

Here is how the Lumberjack was born. Hopefully this will inspire some makeup lumberjacking for this season.

Pleasure Vs K2 Leopards

After winning the toss, Long Dong made the contentious decision of sending K2 in to bat and the even more questionable decision of placing American debutant ‘Prancer’ at cover when the poor Yank had never so much as stepped on a cricket field.

Pleasure v Devils Doo Dah Doo Dah!

More literary finery from Swoop. A real thriller this time with the result in doubt right up to the last page.

Leisure vs Hot Dogs, 3rd August 2013

With the team sheet being completed late on Thursday with the addition of new boys Chimney and Bukkake (visiting from Japan for a few days) the leisure were set for an early Saturday morning start. With every game counting in a very tight D3 we needed to take down the division leading Hot Dogs who haven't been liking the hot conditions in recent weeks and put the presure back on the other teams.

Business vs Pudong, 4th August 2013

Preliminaries The Business looked like it needed some players so I made myself available mid-week, but by Saturday night the squad had 12 players and it looked like I would only be required to film from the sidelines and occasionally bring out some iced drink from the chilly bin. So I almost reluctantly packed my kit on Sunday morning, and made my way to the Camel for the 10.30am timeline. I found only a few Bashers at the bar, and Filthy furiously calling first one, then another, Business players to scramble an eleven together.

Pleasure vs DD Dynamite, Sunday the 28th of July

Sicknote had some difficulty with the blog - so here is the Lumberjack he emailed to me. S.S.

Lumberjack Business vs Devils July 28th, 2013

Business faced a determined Devils on Sunday July 28th at the SRFC. For once I was on time and as the taxi reached the end of Dongping Lu there was one of our main men Big Dazzler walking into the "all day" to load up on some fried food to get himself through the day.  This prematch snack is always part of Tubby's preparation and I expected to see him inside also ordering.

Pleasure v. Digitals Lumberjack

Here's Tiny's recap of last Sunday's events: Saturday 20th – read blog. Concern over 8 men for Pleasure. Volunteer to double up (in spite of the heat) since with 8 it is almost impossible to be competitive. Offer accepted. Pack kit. Go to bed early.
