It was a bright blue sky that greeted the Bashers Business team as they made their way to the Camel for a 10.15am sharp departure to the SRFC to take on K2 again. Sir Dick managed to be on time but Sinbad was 15 minutes late. Not bad considering he had 2 hours kip.
We set off at 10.30 in plenty of time, only for the muppet calling himself our driver to get lost. 90 minutes later, we got to the ground after several stops for directions, a couple of reverses down a motorway and much swearing from the angry kiwis at the back.
After the customary loss of the toss by Stats, a rubbish quick fielding practice and some comedy stretching from Cranky, we were off. Filthy had no sooner extolled how we had to take our catches, then we dropped 2 easy chances in the slips. And then slip is exactly what Stats did when another chance came begging. Cranky got things going when Stats held onto a chance off the opener’s arm and helmet, and Shower chimed in with 2 wickets, including a catch from new Business player Dazzler.
After a few overs, Cranky decided it was a bit too hot for his considerable waistline and decided to have a rest with Sinbad’s brother, Billy, gamely taking his place. Drinks break came with K2 relatively well set at 73 for 3.
Post drinks, on came the spinners, and out went the K2 batsmen. Dipso took a blinder of a catch off Leppa in the deep (even if I say so myself), a stumping by Stats off Leppa, 4 quick wickets from Sinbad, including the first ever dismissal by brothers in Bashers history when the key wicket of Shafqat was caught by Billy at square leg. Sinbad’s 4 wickets came in 2 overs. In his penultimate over, he was on a hat trick but was unable to convert. In his last over he was left on a hat trick as K2 ran out of batsmen. From 73 to 3, to 82 all out.
Batting was pretty uneventful. Dipso missed a straight one, Stats nicked a wide one, Filthy was filthy and Sir Dick bashed it about a little. An 8 wicket victory wrapped up in super quick time.
Handshakes all round, and the kit packed away (just). What could go wrong? The driver that’s what. He’s disapppeared and would take 30 minutes to get back, kindly leaving the bus with our beers locked up in the car park. W**ker.
Special mention to new Bashers Business players: Queenie – thanks for coming / Dazzler – surely the only Basher no. 5 never to get a bat / Billy – for taking the place of El Lazy Presidente. Onto the Devils on Sunday to make it 4 wins from 4. Remember their captain ‘lives for cricket’. Lets make sure he has a miserable Sunday.

Good stuff Dipso.
happy days - bring on Sunday and Sinbad 'The Biatch' throwing his toys again when he finds out he is batting 11 and in charge of kit.
Let's hope Stats can toss this weekend
Sinbad throws his toys? Say it isn't so...
Great win Business....eventful day for the Sinbad brothers, late arriving, toy throwing, wickets which included a double act !!!!
Good work Dipso! Great TEAM effort in the win. I am gonna be a gentleman and ignore Stats comments. Devils BEWARE- i feel a 5 for comin...
does that mean SInbad is sitting on a hat-trick with the first ball of his next over? I'd open the bowling with him and with 4 slips, 2 gullys, leg slip, silly-mid-on and off. John McEnroe award up for grabs - Tank is concerned about the challenge.
Forgot to mention the great support from Squeaky, Golden Shears & family, Omega and mummy Sinbad. Good work
