Lumberjack – SCC Trial Match

Match Day 1 Review: SCC Trial Match (Maroon vs Green)

Thanks to all the Bashers who made themselves available for Sunday’s SCC trial match. The game was a great success and it was good to finally get 50overs under the belt although I suspect there are some sore bodies this morning.

Green won the toss and elected to bat scoring 305/7 off their 50 overs. Notable performance including a fantastic 104 by D. Manning and a quick fire 56* by S. Anugula. W. Khattak was the pick of the Maroon bowler picking up 4 wickets. The Pudong pair of A. Kawatra and E. Marcellin opened well with A. Kawatra in particular very unlucky not to pick up a wicket. S. Yadav also bowled economically and had the outstanding figures of 1-6 off 7 at one stage before D. Manning and S. Anugula ruined his figures in the latter overs. There were also handy contributions by D. Pissurlenkar, A. Bourne and B. Goodwin with the bat after the slow start by the Green top order.
A target of 306 was always going to be a tough chase and the early loss of W. Khattak, caught behind of S. Anugula, set the Maroon’s set the Maroon’s back from the start. As with the Green innings the Maroon top order started slowly facing swing of D. Manning and pace of S. Anugula. The Maroon middle order picked up the pace quiet considerably and with M. Tsesmelis (53) and J. Baig at the crease they Maroons were reeling in the target. A moment of mis-communication ended the promising partnership with M. Tsesmelis run out. Wickets tumbled regularly after that. S. Anugula picking up 4 and J. L’Epagniol 3. Maroons ended 40 odd runs short when they were finally dismissed in the 49th over.

Well done all and look forward to another match soon!

Unusually quiet around here
