Stats talks Stats and SPORTZVAULT!!!!
Gentlemen and esteemed Bashers,
Sportzvault has since its inception been the bane of the skippers’ existences… The nongmin on the phone in the lift, the mosquito buzzing around you in bed – in other words very annoying.
The SCC have taken over responsibility of updating this system once the scores have been agreed upon by the playing captains and submitted to the Club.
We have now been given a period of a week to confirm the facts and figures in the system before they are logged in for good. So anyone who wants to keep a tally on runs / wickets / catches etc MUST double check their stats in the days following the game. If there are mistakes, let their respective skippers know by the THURSDAY (in email format please) or forever hold you peace.
To make life easier – here is the link for you all – in future, please check the fixed links on the blog
Any further questions – please talk to the voting members of the committee.
Much love,

Loose & Local – End of Season Awards Function 2009
27 November 20096:30 pm to 11:30 pmLadies & Gentlemen of the GREATEST CRICKET CLUB IN SHANGHAI [if not the UNIVERSE]!

The End of Season function/Awards Night is upon us once again, and its our time to reflect on a WONDERFUL year of highlights, both on and off the Ground! This year, following last years antics, we’ve decided to turn it up a few degrees and get ‘Loose & Local‘!
Check it out:
Date: Friday 27th November 2009
Location: Ya Ke Xi Xinjiang Restaurant, 379 Xikang Road [near WuDing Lu]. 西康路379号靠近武定路
Time: 6:30 PM kickoff
Cost: 150 RMB for a smorgasbord of wonderful ‘local‘ cuisine and ‘loose‘ drinks [free flow VB, with spirits, mixers and the like in there as well!]
Dress Code: Loose, but local!
This is the occasion where we award ourselves for our efforts during the year, and vote on the upcoming years committee. 150 RMB is a great deal for a great feed, all you can drink, a night with mates and collectively patting each other on the back.
Last year we had 30+ punters at the end of season function, as we are only 2 blocks north of the Big Bamboo this year, I would expect we can push 50+ punters in the room! We Own the place for the night, so LET’S GET AMONGST IT! There’ll be belly dancers, singers and maybe a few suprises thrown inbetween!
for a look at last year’’s pissa (before the cameras got put away and things really got messy) see the evidence here.
Please comment below to RSVP as soon as possible, so we have an idea for numbers and catering logistics.
See you there, bright and early for a few beers!

Bashers 2009 Awards Night: Stay Tuned!
Ladies and Gentlemen of the cloth,
Just when your liver said ‘enough’, we are here to inform you of the up & coming Bashers CC Awards Night 2009.
Not only is it a night where we all sit down as a club and give ourselves a collective group-hug [and tickle], it’s where we also vote on next years Committee and award ourselves with copious amounts of alcohol.
Surprise Surprise!Stay tuned as we are locking in the dates as we speak. Will be bigger, bolder & brighter than last years installment.
Should have a idea ASAP, but at this stage keep the 27th & 28th of November clear.
It guarantees to be THE SOCIAL EVENT OF THE YEAR…and if anyone remembers last years installment, a word of warning: ‘LOCK UP YOUR SISTERS‘! [see photo]

Bashers Week Quiz Results
Another big night. Those missing out – missed out! A big welcome to the various newcomers to the world of Bashers trivia, it’s really not a bad place.
Once again the Drop Bears cleaned up taking a hat-trick (yawn). Another case each of Just Beer goodies for them. Some steady competition in the rest of the pack. Some adjusting to the new innovation of a buzzer round well – others not so – as evidenced by a couple of negative scores. A few new sections, including a Gashers section. One wonders why the WAGS didn’t have the confidence to pick that one as their wildcard. See fellas, even they don’t understand women. They did manage to take home a bottle of Vodka for their efforts though, no doubt they’ll be using that at their next secret meeting in some sordid and secret manner. Ethnicity picked up the JD by a narrow margin, until baseless accusations from I’m Easy had them rightfully ejected and the margin widened. Thanks to Katie (no show again) for shouting everyone a round of Sambucas, very kind of you. Stay tuned for the next quiz – probably just before the break of summer – big things in store for that one. For Statsie the total scores of all teams for each section went as follows; Sciences:175, Arts:270, World:224, China:365, Bashers:340, Gashers: 285. Teams making the wisest wildcard choice: Drop Bears only! Total Points scored: 2022 out of a possible 5500 at an average of just under 289. Best score in a section: Drop Bears with 180 in the China section. Worst: I’m Easy (-11) in the World section.

Diplomatic Appreciation
Dear Bashers
I have taken the liberty to add myself to your blog as there seems to be no “pest-control” on registration requirements.
As an the Council member organising the Centaurs tour for the weekend, I just personally want to thank all of you who participated in both games … out of 22 players 11 were Bashers which is great show by you lot.
I will be sending out my monthly Communique this week with a review of the Centaurs tour but would also like to congratulate Sameer on a brilliant bowling display claiming 4 Centaurs scalps and also a fantastic “get out of jail” act with 26 no* and taking the Dragons over the victory line with the a great last wicket stand. Special mention has to go to Ollie and Hadleigh for putting on 90-odd in 11 overs for the first wicket and also Hadleigh for getting a 50 on debut for the SCC Dragons.
So once again thanks Bashers for your great support of another SCC initiative.
Over and out!!
