Ouch… Back to back losses – but at least we competed all the way and weren’t facing a world record run chase.
Pudong 71 – Pleasure 46
Pudong batted first – and it was a solid effort all round in the field from the Bashers. Hot Head especially made some good improvements from last week both around the field and bowling as well. Shitshoes picked up a one-handed catch off the net, followed by a hat-trick, and was later the MVP from the umpire Filthy (FREE BEER). Korean showed some quick work behind the wickets for a few good stumpings, and Cranky was solid defending the back net.
The batting went well for the first half – with a great start by Cranky and Hot Head, followed up solidly by Dot and Korean – but a disastrous partnership with Tantric and Growler (and some suicidal running) meant the last pair of Badabing and Shitshoes had too much to do to bring us home (and the wickets kept coming). It came down to 27 off the last delivery and was never going to happen!
Business 48 – Daredevils 66
Unfortunately, not enough Bashers turned out to the Arena so most of the team had to double up and play twice (and some weren’t 100% either). The Business batted first and A Trois was in fine form – hitting the back net for a couple of good 6s! Long Dong and Shitshoes put in an average partnership, but the story of the match was the -37 partnership between the newby and Korean, who faced only a handful of deliveries. There were a few 1s and 2s between the stumpings, and it was painful to watch at times. Filthy and Growler then added an impressive partnership to give the Business a score to defend.
The bowling and fielding was good – and it was a match right up until the last 2 overs when the Daredevils edged past the Business total. The first few partnerships were low scores – kept in check by some good bowling by Dot, Long Dong, A Trois, and Shitshoes – who picked up another MVP from umpire Sharapova (another FREE BEER) but probably only for the new haircut. The newby bowled 2 fine overs (for someone who had never played cricket before) against the better Daredevils batters – but even great overs from Growler and Filthy weren’t enough to hold on for a win.
There is another weekend of Indoor action at the Arena next week – it’s an awesome facility (even with a mini-Camel upstairs) and a lot of fun to play – so get involved!

Good stuff Shitshoes. After your double MVP performance, are you in the A or B squad?
I'm in the overall squad - just waiting to see what offers I get...
Great writing yet again
