Business vrs K2, June 20th: Lumberjack Report

The final round robin game of the first round found Business (1-2) up against the undefeated K2 (3-0). The very side the Business beat for the title the season before. Heading into the game Business really needed a victory to keep in touch with the play-off spots.

Match report-Pleasure vs Hot Dogs – Sunday May 30 2010

A sunny Sunday morning greeted the Pleasure Boys at The Camel Bar for their journey out to SRFC minus Swahili who had overslept and elected to make his way directly to the ground: a fine omen?? But more on this later.

Business Boys Up and Running…

After a hit and miss start to the season (more miss than hit), it is with a sense of relief that the first Lumberjack report is posted. Following a wash-out first up against Pudong, followed by defeats to the two wannabe Basher teams in the League (Devils and Doggies), we finally managed to notch the first of many victories for the season.

Leisure over powered by Pudong: Lumberjack 29th May 2010

For the second time this season the Leisure's finest were headed out to Dulwich to face the Pudong Power. After the season opener ended in the Duckworth Lewis debacle that is still being argued over in the No1 Court of Shanghai Sporting Arbitration, the team was looking forward to getting a full shot at the Power.

First of all a massive thanks again to all the people who keep giving us prizes. However i get the feeling that if we gave away paper clips we'd still have the same response: huge!

Leisure vs Devils Lumberjack report

The highs and lows of cricket in Shanghai could not be better embodied than the plight of the Leisure Bashers. The ecstasy and euphoria from a thumping 10 wicket victory over Dulwich the week before was followed by the devastation and empty feeling of a 100 odd run loss to the Devils. We blame Paul "Terror" Turner and Garth "Shania" Muncy for their no show.

Leisure win by 10 wkts!

As the remaining Street workers tried to pick up trash outside the Camel at 9am, a school bus notable for lack of leg room ferried the Leisure Men to Dulwich to do battle with the Knights.

Div 2 vs Devils-May 1 2010

On another cracking day, the Bashers Div 2 squad were all up bright, early and assembled at The Camel accompanied by an entourage of black-suited Latvians keen to watch/participate in the Noble Game after appearing from a nearby all-night bender. The Skipper sent them away much to the chagrin of some of the assembled members, primarily because he thought that whilst amusing, they had probably peaked in entertainment value around the 7:25 mark.

Lumberjack | Leisure v Hot Dogs | May 1st

With the firecrackers still ringing in our ears from the opening of EXPO, the Bashers finest assembled for their 8AM MAY DAY bus at The Camel. Pity there was no bus, but we had beers & pies & new baggy blue Bashers caps, so we legged it via taxi's to Dulwich. First thing we noticed at the ground was how beautiful the weather was, probably better suited to drinking than running around after a red leather ball. JC was as usual late, so we offered him as a Bashers sacrifice to the under manned Hot Dogs, who didn't even say thanks!
