Bashers Slayers 57 vs Cape Grape 92
Hot Dogs 111 vs Bashers Slayers 70
A cold, grey day for a brace of ragged Bashers Slayers performances, and Spanner’s Stag night the previous day certainly didn’t help. G’rilla and Paps had to work, so thanks to Cranky and Hothead for stepping up at the last minute. It was a pretty forgettable afternoon, so I’ll focus on the positives:
1. Peking’s all round performance: his batting was solid as ever – notching up valuable runs in both games, and his bowling picked up critical wickets at an economical rate
2. Longdong’s bowling was sharp and accurate, and he rattled the stumps on a number of occasions
3. Cranky’s sledging was hostile and aimed at everyone on both sides (even including those walking past on the street), and he didn’t risk injuring to his back for the upcoming season by actually trying to field the ball
4. Hothead’s debut wasn’t as bad as Sharapova’s debut last time around, and he has now learned how to NOT get stumped – and probably we had a moral victory as the other sides shamelessly targeted our shortest player… in a social league too!
5. Korean put in a steady effort despite constantly sneezing, and looking like he was feeling the effects of the Stag night
6. Shitshoes opened up in the second match and found the back net with a series of crisp shots
We needed to win one of those games to stay at the top of the table, so we need to win everything from here if we want championship glory. Loose’s chirp yesterday was a valid point – of course we can win ’em all! We’ve got the squad to bring it home, so lets finish the season strongly after Chinese new year!

It's all Spanner's fault
