1. Bashers 2010 AGM Dinner – KAKADU

    AGM DINNER AND COMMITTEE ELECTIONS
    ———————————
Dear Bashers, that time is again soon approaching fast where the
end of the season dinner is almost upon us and a time where we
as club come together to decide our future.
The date is chosen as it coincides a week after the Xiamen tour
and a week before the Hong Kong Cricket 6′s tour which is our
last club event for the season.
As always the club will have the first 30/45 minutes of club
stuff like financial standing, Bashers progress on how we have
grown and what we have achieved for 2010, the future of the
club (SCC/SRFC issue) and of course  the new club Committee
    to be voted in.
The non official awards then to follow regarding each players’
antics for the season and then party till dawn….
So for now 2 things are required from you members:
    1)  please confirm that you as a member will be in
    attendance with or without partner
    2)  please think about who you feel best reprsents you in the
club in the role of Committee member or other exective
roles. If already in position, renominate them otherwise
before nominating someone else get that persons
    agreement first to run.
Saves time knowning that those nominated are prepared
    for the role.
The venue has yet to be confirmed or decided but the
general format for the night has been agreed that a buffet
will be layed out and that all members upon arrival with their
partners should they bring them (you are encouraged to do
so) do not have to wait a lengthy time prior to eating and
    drinking.
The Current Excomm for 2010 are as follows :
    President          : Denzyl Allwright
    Secretary          : Andy Scott
    Treasurer          : David Rosenthal

    Social Director : Hadleigh Churchill
Captain Div 1   : Oliver Austin
Captain Div 2   : James Mcleod
Captain Div 3   : Dean Lapthorne
Therefore please have a think about who you want that
    will best run the club.
Please kindly send all AGM attendance confirmations and
    committee nominations to :
    Andy Scott : secretary@basherscc.org
(please get your confirmations and nominations in no
    later than 30th October)
Good luck and look forward to seeing this be the biggest turn

  3. Roots and Shoots – Jane Gala a Success

The Friends of the Jane Gala held on Sunday the 26th September at the JW Marriott proved a huge success as charity was able able to reach their target of rmb500,000 for the night with the Bashers members contributing almost rmb30,000 on the night to this. Well done guys!!!

The night saw many people from the who’s who attending but none looked as sharply dressed as the men in Blue from the Bashers Cricket Club. From being welcomed in with no need for tickets to be shown on arrival, given a table in the front of the stage in the centre, to being named during the opening speeches along with the major contributors of the charity. People knew who we were by the end of the evening.

The Bashers members held their heads up high for as long as they could after wooshing down copious amounts of booze
and ensuring the smokers corner was occupied at all times.

Again a big thank you goes out to all those who attended that evening and representing. A big thank you also goes out to all the other Bashers who being unable to attend for whatever reasons that have and continue to contribute to this great cause.

  5. Xiamen Cricket & Beach Party

    19 November 2010 to 21 November 2010

Xiamen Typoons have formally invited the Bashers to come to Xiamen and launch cricket in Xiamen. The Typhoons were voted the most social side at the Shangahai 7s but were totally disappointed with the hospitality and drinking ability of the Shanghai rugby teams. They have challenged the Bashers to restore the pride in Shanghai and come to Xiamen to play the first ever game of cricket in Xiamen. The game will take place at the iconic Gu Lang Yu stadium on Gu Lang Yu Island. The plan is a morning game game followed by 6s. This is a once in lifetime opportunity to break new ground and restore Shanghai’s tarnished image.

In return the Typhoons will do the following:

    1. Provide a BASHERS BOAT for the day.
    2. Organise an ALL NIGHT beach party in HONOUR of the Bashers. Note that the Typoons beach parties attract between FIVE HUNDRED and ONE THOUSAND people.
    3. Organise TV coverage. (see attached link)
    4. Sell Kooka pies at the event and allow Kooka pies to promote their wares at key pubs in Xiamen (already done by a certain Kooka pies fan from Scotland)
    5. Provide a stage and a PA system not only for commentary but for a band if Omega feels so inclined to get really loose. And/or a band stage can also be set up at the beach party.
    6. Raise the Scottish flag at the stadium (well I had to ask)
