Oh, and remember, as with all Yorkshire words &#8211; it&#8217;s said like &#8220;mard-eh.&#8221; Ref \u201cMardy Bum\u201d by the Arctic Monkeys (popular Yorkshire folk band).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nar then&#8221; is a perfectly acceptable, and very friendly way to greet someone. Another common greeting is &#8220;Ey up, how&#8217;s tha doin?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A Geisha is commonly referred to as &#8220;r lass&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Propah&#8221; or &#8220;rate&#8221; is used to substitute &#8220;really&#8221; or &#8220;very&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Example:- \u201cthat was a nasty delivery\u201d = \u201cThat delivery wo proper nasteh\u201d \/ \u201cthat delivery wo rate nasteh\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Bloody&#8221; (or Yorkshire say, &#8216;bloodeh&#8217;) = &#8220;That bloodeh tubby never shuts up&#8221; alternatively, &#8220;that bloodeh tubby lad never giz \u2018is gob a rest&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Remember tha\u2019d rather be an \u2018otdog than be a &#8220;Lanc&#8221; (a person from Lancashire).
