Burger chain hopes to serve more than 1.75 million people in 29 days<\/h2>\n

LONDON<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u201d Talk about super-sizing!<\/p>\n

For the 2012 London Olympics, fast-food giant McDonald’s will be building its biggest restaurant ever.<\/p>\n

The 32,000 square-foot, two-story facility will have seating for 1,500 hungry spectators – and athletes.<\/p>\n

It’s one of four temporary McDonald’s to be constructed for the Olympics, including one in the athletes’ village.<\/p>\n

The biggest challenge for McDonald’s? Logistics.<\/p>\n

“A lot of work goes into making sure we have enough ingredients on hand. But we have done a great job in the past managing these massive event,” said Melissa Daly, a communications supervisor for McDonald’s.<\/p>\n

“Training the crew is another challenge, but we will have the best of the best workers coming to work in London,” Daly added.<\/p>\n

The fast-food giant will also select 2,000 of its top employees \u00e2\u20ac\u201c its largest Olympic team ever assembled \u00e2\u20ac\u201c to serve at the Games. About 1,800 will come from Great Britain, the other 200 from restaurants from other nations. The “brand ambassadors” will have the chance to meet the world’s top athletes and attend events.<\/p>\n

McDonald’s, which has been an Olympics sponsor since 1976, hopes to serve more than 1.75 million people during the 29 days of the Olympics and Paralympics.<\/p>\n
