A sunny Sunday morning greeted the Pleasure Boys at The Camel Bar for their journey out to SRFC minus Swahili who had overslept and elected to make his way directly to the ground: a fine omen?? But more on this later.<\/p>\n

Pleasure lost the toss and fielded first. A reasonably disciplined bowling performance apart from the 27 wides and 4 dropped catches but plenty of enthusiasm in the field particularly from Tank and Latex who was bounding around like a man half his size.<\/p>\n

Bowling honours were equally shared with a hostile opening spell from Dazzler, control in the middle from Long Dong, who was on a hat trick at one stage and guile & variety from Bugs and Omega to close out the Hot Dogs innings at 137 all out.<\/p>\n

Pleasure’s innings got off to a slow start with wickets tumbling at regular intervals. We sent Tank in to open in a pinch hitter role which I think we deemed a success. Seeing him take a massive heave off the third ball of the innings certainly unsettled their opening attack and contributed to them sending down a sensational 42 wides during the course of their overs.<\/p>\n

At 73 for 9, Pleasure seemed sunk; however Hot Dogs had not made allowances for the amazing fighting spirit of Swahili backed up by the irrepressible Long Dong and their own infinite capacity to keep bowling wides. With one over to go, the target of 138 was reached and Pleasure had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat courtesy of a Long Dong square cut and general mayhem and bonhomie ensued.<\/p>\n

So; a first “W” of the season and a great confidence-booster for other battles to come.<\/p>\n\t\t
