At the Roots & Shoots Board meeting a couple of weeks ago special mention was made of Latex for helping put together the R&S Donors Drinks evening last month. Also thanks to all Bashers that turned up at that evening. Again last night at the Marriott Fund Raiser for R&S big thanks to all Bashers who fronted up to contribute RMB 10K for a table as well as those that bought items in the auction and of course for the Bashers on stage performance. Latex’s new skull ashtray was the auction bargain of the night. Special mention was also made of those Bashers who have volunteered time to help with the tree planting and visit the school in Inner Mongolia. R&S Chairperson Tori Zwisler said “the Bashers are always the life and soul of the party”. Last night the Bashers logo had equal billing on the stage backdrop beside Fortune 500 company logos.
Yesterday afternoon Barcadi, who are a major donor to R&S, spoke to me about putting together a big party earlier next year together with the Bashers for all R00ts & Shoots contributors/donors and staff etc…..Bacardi, Babes and Bashers type thing which could be very big. Bacardi will source a great venue.
So on behalf of everyone at Roots & Shoots a big thank you. Bashers are way ahead of both the rest of the cricketing community and most sports clubs in Shanghai when it comes to getting behind good causes.
Pusher (Roots and Shoots Board Member)
Yes it is long…………
Special Thanks to the School Children of Kunlunqi and his royal holiness the Pope.

The scene was set for another mammoth charity ‘push’ by the Bashers in Inner Mongolia. Seasoned tree planters, The Pusher, Woodstock & Parrot were once again embarking on their annual pilgrimage to Inner Mongolia to become one with their shovels and mother earth and spread the good word of the Bashers and the gospel of Cricket to the children of Kunlunqi.
The Friends of the Jane Gala held on Sunday the 26th September at the JW Marriott proved a huge success as charity was able able to reach their target of rmb500,000 for the night with the Bashers members contributing almost rmb30,000 on the night to this. Well done guys!!!
The night saw many people from the who’s who attending but none looked as sharply dressed as the men in Blue from the Bashers Cricket Club. From being welcomed in with no need for tickets to be shown on arrival, given a table in the front of the stage in the centre, to being named during the opening speeches along with the major contributors of the charity. People knew who we were by the end of the evening.
The Bashers members held their heads up high for as long as they could after wooshing down copious amounts of booze
and ensuring the smokers corner was occupied at all times.
Again a big thank you goes out to all those who attended that evening and representing. A big thank you also goes out to all the other Bashers who being unable to attend for whatever reasons that have and continue to contribute to this great cause.

Bashers Cricket in Inner Mongolia
“Hi, I’m Richard, do you want to see my underpants?”
What better way for a Basher to greet the Million Tree Project representative Heather Wigmore on arrival at Kun Lun Qi, Inner Mongolia, a town of 50,000 in one of China’s poorest areas The Bashers trio of Parrot, Pusher and Woodstock had just traversed 200km of arid zone, invigorated by fresh air, sunshine, blue skies, and a third place at the Frank’s Place pub quiz the previous night. Parrot was understandably euphoric after making up severe deficiencies in his underwear ensemble during a snack stop on the way from TongLiao airport. The Bashers faced a busy few days in the desert, and it was not the time for wardrobe malfunctions.
Just an update on the last quiz where we saved the planet.
The Million Tree Project has uploaded some pictures of Good Bashers to their website in the Forest of Superhumans section.
Well done again everyone.
Just because we can’t get enough of the green bug i’ll pass on this good news from our friends the Million Tree Project. It’s yet another no lose situation.
Buy a delicious smoothie from any Element Fresh store on Wednesday 14th October and they’ll buy a tree.
You’ll have a healthy nutritious and delicious snack, you’ll be doing more wonderful things for our planet and you’ll have a warm fuzzy feel good glow for the rest of the day.
Well that’s not the kind of controversial ending we expected but exciting it was.
Most importantly we made a whole bunch of cash for the Million Tree Project – enough to plant 250 trees!
Just as importantly many good times were had, much beer and lambrusco were drunk in a lovely new venue.
Thanks must be extended to our generous prize sponsors;
Coca-Cola, Donelli, Diageo, Just Beer, Kooka Pies, Mrs Pusher’s cakes & One Wellness.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
And thank you Bashers, Geishas and the entire extended Basher family. Also great to see so many fresh faces.
i’m out on bail now so can present the results.
A special quiz this time with all proceeds going to our lovely Charity – The Million Tree Project.
Expect some green questions!
