1. Bashers 2009 Awards Night: Stay Tuned!

Ladies and Gentlemen of the cloth,

Just when your liver said ‘enough’, we are here to inform you of the up & coming Bashers CC Awards Night 2009.

Not only is it a night where we all sit down as a club and give ourselves a collective group-hug [and tickle], it’s where we also vote on next years Committee and award ourselves with copious amounts of alcohol.IMG_6886 Surprise Surprise!

Stay tuned as we are locking in the dates as we speak. Will be bigger, bolder & brighter than last years installment.

Should have a idea ASAP, but at this stage keep the 27th & 28th of November clear.

It guarantees to be THE SOCIAL EVENT OF THE YEAR…and if anyone remembers last years installment, a word of warning: ‘LOCK UP YOUR SISTERS‘! [see photo]

  4. May 2009 – Cricket Shanghai Newsletter

    Staying in Touch and Up-to-Date
We are now a few rounds into the 2009 league and most of the competitions are still wide open. While many of us have our eyes glued to the WT20 in England this month, let’s take some time out to review the developments within Cricket Shanghai.

    cricket-communique

    Welcome to the 2009 Season

As discussed at last month’s AGM, the Council will be sending out a monthly Communique to all members going forward. As there is a lot to get you all up to speed on this first edition will be slightly longer than normal. We hope you find these monthly communications useful and please feel free to let us know where we can develop further to keep everyone up to date. The new 2009 Season is well under way and the Council’s plan to schedule double headers between all club’s Div 1 & Div 2 teams has been well received and good for inter-club rivalry. (more…)

  7. Bashers Team Names

It’s official. By popular vote of those who are physical enough to rock up to training and drinks the new Bashers team names have been decided. In the end it was an undeniably resounding majority decision.

    Without ado at all …

The Bashers side in the SCC first division will be known as The Bashers “Business”

The team competing in the second division will be known as The Bahsers “Pleasure”

Congrats to Woodstock for dreaming this concept up and showing a glimpse of the workings of his mind. A case of beer is yours if you know what to do with that.

    Close runners-up and honourable mentions;

Darkness and Light (Kasem) – probably a bit cerebral for most – if you don’t understand this one – learn some Latin.

    Kegs & Slabs (Omega)

    Hammers & Sledges ( BS)

Thanks to all for your contributions – this is your club, enjoy.

There is still the question of what to call the sixes side when they turn out later in the summer. Sponsors anyone?

  8. Pick Team Names – Win Beer

LAST WEEK TO GET YOUR ENTRIES IN!

    It’s competition time!

With the reorganisation of the SCC league system the Bashers will now have two competing teams (you’re all welcome to play for either/both)

    • The Santa Fe Premiership is a 40 over comp and supposedly of the highest level.
    • The Santa Fe Championship is a 25 over “2nd XI” comp which will be of a high level also.

The point of this post though is to announce your chance to win beer. The old team names “league” and “20-twenty” are both inappropriate and a little lame so we’d like the Bashers to get thinking and come up with some cool new names for these teams. Something Basher-like, something catchy, something easy to spell. Bonus points for also having a name for  the Sixes side. Leave your suggestions in the comments below.

Winning entry will get a case of delicious beer! (not to mention the prestige)

  9. Cricket in Crisis: A Global Map

There is a great little interactive map from the Guardian of cricket’s less sterling moments (click on the pic to view the full map).

Interestingly, nothing bad seems to have happened in New Zealand.
