Did baseball begin in 18th-century England?

There is an excellent article and video on CNN on the origins of baseball.
“An extract from an 18th-century diary containing the oldest known reference to baseball is among the items on display in a new exhibition in London exploring the English origins and cricketing connections of America’s national sport.
“While baseball was once claimed to have been invented in the U.S. in the mid-19th century, recent findings suggest a sport of the same name may have evolved decades earlier alongside cricket, crossing the Atlantic with English settlers to the American colonies.”

Vietnam International Cricket Sixes Feeler
Is there any interest in the Vietnam International Cricket Sixes (Ho Chi Minh / Saigon) which the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour (ACST) is aiming to hold in 2010.
1/ Is anyone interested in traveling to Ho Chi Minh / Saigon for this event?
2/ Would the proposed dates of the 6th and 7th of February 2010 suit?.
3/ If that date does not suit, will a weekend 2 or 3 weeks later suit?I know this is late notice and we really need to act fast if there is interest.

Most of you are probably hearing the rumors , so let me clarify the situation.Due to Barrack Obama staying at the Portman this Sunday , it seems the police want to shut down all drinking establishments and some roads , Tongren being one of them.
Officially the Bamboo has been asked to close so we will now go with our plan B

Sunday’s Final Selection – Training
12 November 20096:00 pm to 8:00 pmBashers,
This Sunday sees the clash of the League 1 giants vs the New Boys from Yiwu…
Yes, the unthinkable has occured… The Hot Dogs are propping up the League, and the Mighty Mighty Bashers are in the final.
The game is taking place at the SRFC on Sunday – time to be confirmed in the next 24 hours or so.
The opposition are K2.
The stakes couldn’t be higher… 12 months of officially being the best club in Shanghai – both off the field (undeniable) and on it.This is a reminder that there will be training on Thursday which will give players extra practice time.
In all honesty there is unlikely to be major changes from last week’s heroic XII but all are welcome and indeed encouraged to come to SanHeHuaYuan on Thursday from 6pm till 8pm.This will be the last nets session of the season so would be great to get a turn out, and a mass descent on the Big Bamboo.
Cheers,
Stats
