Sizzling Super Thursday Results

Once again a special evening in fine company. So much action was taking place at the Bamboo last night that nary a soul did more than peek at the final ashes test unfolding on the peripheral screens.

Thanks guys!

The monster chook raffle went down well with the Bashers, Geishas and guests as well as the great unwashed in the rest of the bar. Many thanks to the lads from the Million Tree project who volunteered to help sell tickets.
We managed to get a bunch of cash for some new pads and bats and a good percentage will also be donated to our charity. Well done to all!
Of course none of this happens without the generosity of many.

  • Big Bamboo (of course)
  • Donelli Wines (available in City Shop’s and other selected suppliers throughout China)
  • Millenium Wuxi (run by a Basher to Basher standards)
  • Just Beer (new branch opening soon in Bangkok)
  • FCm Travel (for all your travel needs and random numbers)
  • Kebabs on the Grille (Tickling your taste buds)
  • and of course Kooka Pies (the ultimate sports food)

And so to the results;

Well, what a finish, including the traditional bad maths and deliberate controversy. Boring repeat winners the Drop Bears were there at the finish again but had to work hard this time and the challenge from I’m Easy stood up to the pressure and a dead heat resulted.

In the end Statsie was too good in the sudden death playoff and I’m Easy took away a case of Just Beer product. The Bears, who have subsequently deteriorated into infighting and name-calling and threaten to disband should be more than happy with their bottles of Prosecco. All this could have been avoided if the geek with the Star Wars t-shirt and tattoo had actually managed to answer the Star Wars question. Lara Please showed their form of years gone by with a storming late run for third and some six-packs and Kooka Pies samplers.

Newcomers Frequency did not disgrace themselves, in particular with one mind-boggling display of mathematical gymnastics. The buzzer questions proved pivotal in this contest. Special mention must be made of the Loose Units who not only managed to score a perfect zero in the “World” round but also had the forethought to select that as their wildcard thus doubling that for a grand 0 points.

The Shanghai Sheilas weren’t able to repeat their podium finish from last time despite or perhaps because of the cast of ring ins. Sloppy Thirds only managed to live up to half of their name.
