This rivaly dates back 100 years and embodies the sporting history of Shanghai.

In the morning there is a cricket match with many Bashers past and present taking to the field in both playing and umpiring rolls.

It would be great to get as many Bashers out there to support the Swire team for what will be a great day of Sport.

Depending on numbers we will put on a bus leaving from the Camel at 08:15. this bus will be coming back into town after the cricket and well in time for the activities the Social director has planned for the afternoon.

There is live entertainment at the ground as well as all the activities for the kids so this one is for all the family.

The after match event is equally important and just like the bygone era there will be a gentlemen players curry and tiffin dinner at the former Shanghai Club (Waldorf) which will be attended not only by the players but also a couple past Presidents of Hong Kong Rugby and Cricket, some of the protaginists involved in the first proper competitve cricket fixture of the modern era in Shanghai back in 1994, a couple of relatives of former players and few key figures in Shanghai Rugby and Cricket’s modern era. The Bashers Club Captain, who has graciously agreed to officiate at the cricket match, will of course be reprsentating Shanghai’s finest cricketing institution at the dinner in all his Bashers pomp and finery.

Although I have hung up my cricket boots this year I have noticed a couple of the Bashers teams have got off to a winning start so all things considered it looks like a decent year to be a sponsor. Good luck everyone for the rest of the season…..particularly the gentlemen of the Leisure.

Here we go!!! The date has been set, the back room of the Camel has been booked- all we need is THE BASHERS!!! We would like to start off the season rounding up all the Bashers team members (Business, Pleasure and Leisure) for a little get together at The Camel this Friday the 24th- 25 RMB Drinks and some snacks will be on offer! This would be a good time to:-

1- Get everyone together after a while and back in the spirit of things (in case you don’t make Bashers drinks Thursday nights)-Did I mention 25RMB drinks??? PISS UP!!!! YAY!!!!!
2- Discuss the new league set up and changes
3- Introduce new members and recruits for season 2012 (bring along any potential players for 2012)
4- Discuss the Bashers Card (and the benefits received with it)- will be received by all paid members
5-Talk about the “COCK of the WALK” (to be done by Latex coz I have no idea what that is!)
6- Design tactics and strategy for the upcoming season
7- Show off to your respective captains and try to bribe them to select you (I think Filthy is the best!!! hahaha!)
8- PAY OFF YOUR SUBS!!! PAY OFF UR SUBS!!! PAY OFF UR SUBS!!! We would really like to collect the player fees a little early this year and would appreciate if you would so kindly bring your 2000 Rambos to get this out of the way! Anyone who pays up this Friday will receive a free 6-pack of BEER!!! YESSSS!!! FREE BEER!!!!
9- Maybe have a little dancing.. WOoHoO!

Maybe a little highbrow for the like of some Bashers but our fine selves at Sirromet Wines in conjunction with The Wine Republic & The House of Roosevelt are hosting a casual tasting this Wednesday evening at The House of Roosevelt. 6:30PM kickoff with 6 wines to sample across the range including sparkling, whites, reds and a lovely little number using the mistelle method to finish with.

The price for the night is 128 RMB which is a  bargain either way you look at it; its cheaper than a fines session.

Now we are all back in the swing of things lets get back on track with some off season training! We need to start working on some important stuff for the 2012 season and I cant think of a better place to start than The Camel!

Firstly we need the 2012 Bashers Shot sorting out. This may seem insignificant to many but these will be forced upon you at a moments notice with no warning so we defiantly need to work on the recipe from last year.

The selected mix last season was;

Whisky
Drambuie
Grenadin
Lime
Bitters
Tabasco

Now i’m not saying this wasn’t an inspired selection but it did taste fairly rough. As always the Bashers strive to improve and we defiantly cant fail to improve on this.

So, come down for a drink and an open discussion and maybe a taste test or 2 this Thursday 12th from around 7pm.

Also after a few testers we can start practicing a reenactmentof this….

Happy New Year to you Bashers out there! I hope you all had a great holiday and are ready to hit 2012 for a big old six!

To start the year of with a bang I am happy to announce that with all the hard work we put in last year with Shanghai Roots and Shoots we have achieved the great land mark of 4000 trees and thus we have our very own forest!

Here is a great message from Tori, Zeezee and the team at Roots and Shoots explaining what we have achieved and re-confirming that The Bashers set the standard for all other clubs in Shanghai.

The certificate will be taking pride of place on the wall in the Members End at the Camel and serve as a reminder to all of us that this club is so much more than just Cricket.

Also please be ready to hear from the new committee over the coming month of our plans for 2012 as we gear up for what is looking like a busy year for the Bashers on and off the field!
