Squads for Sunday Sante Fe Sixes March 29th. 745am Camel Bar!
Div. 1
Div. 2
Once you have played in one division during the Sixes you may not play in the other.
As you can see we have a quite a number of interested parties and we will endeavour to give all a go in true Bashers spirit. Rest assured that those who don’t play can fill their cricketing boots with an umpiring stint or 30mins on the scorebook! Each of the teams will have 4 games I think.
Bus from The Camel at 745am Sunday morning. Those wishing to do an all nighter on the Saturday may wish to do so at The Camel to ensure they are ready on time. First umpiring stint (Stats) at 9am and Bashers first game shortly after (Bashers first beer well before).
Please Edit your posts below with confirmation of where and when you’ll be meeting the team. I imagine one or two may head out there of their own accord. Please inform The Party.

Is there any interest in the Vietnam International Cricket Sixes (Ho Chi Minh / Saigon) which the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour (ACST) is aiming to hold in 2010.
1/ Is anyone interested in traveling to Ho Chi Minh / Saigon for this event?
2/ Would the proposed dates of the 6th and 7th of February 2010 suit?.
3/ If that date does not suit, will a weekend 2 or 3 weeks later suit?
I know this is late notice and we really need to act fast if there is interest.
So far we have the following “expressions of interest”:
However based on last years effort, we can expect most of you to find out you are not available after all, some realising this the last week before the tournament starts.
For this reason we will need confirmations in by 5pm Thursday 29 October of those who are now able to commit. I will call those in the above list tomorrow. Others not listed above will get no further notice or offer. The squad will be selected from those confirmed in THIS confirmation list at the Big Bamboo after training tomorrow. If you are interested and your name is not already down you need to add it to this blog NOW.
Those selected will then need to pay a RMB1000 deposit by 8pm Thursday 5th November (non-refundable – if you pull out after that your money goes in the tour drinks kitty, with no exceptions). If you fail to pay the deposit by then your place will be offered to others.
For those who do not know the arrangements, the squad will fly together Thursday 3rd Dec around 5pm and fly back around 9pm Sunday 6th. We will be staying in the official Tourn hotel (TBA) for around HK500 each/per night for twin share, or HK900 if you want your own room. The team’s tournament entry fees have been kindly covered by our sponsors (Big Bamboo) so the Hotel and Flight are your only fixed expenses.
See also www.hkcricketfestival.com/tournament.htm for more.
Any other queries see you at Big Bamboo tomorrow after training (or call Leppa 13661661086)
I have to say the contribution from the Bashers to the Coca-Cola Sixes was simply magnificent and quite frankly the event would not nearly have been so good if many Bashers had not stepped up to the plate with their contributions. Sir & Lady Dick, Tank, Omega, Turtle and Birdshit all made massive contributions to the weekend’s organisation. Hammer’s initiative in bringing out D-Man went down a storm and certainly provided me with one of the most memorable moments ever at a Sixes Dinner when he let rip on the stage. If I have missed some people out I apologise.
I also must say Woodstock’s cameo in the final when he first bowled two bouncers at the Anti Basher and then saw him off with a yorker was a classic.
Such was the impression left by the blazered brigade we have received two formal invitations for tours. Japanese captain Ema was so impressed with Loosey’s attire the Japanese Cricket Association have invited us to take part in an event next May in Japan. This morning I also got a call from the US Cricket Association rep that came to the Sixes asking if we would be interested in a tour of the West Coast of the US starting in San Francisco and ending up in San Diego. The US have also promised to send a team to Sixes next year and if schedules allow a womens team comprising 100% of West Indian immigrants (Woodstock has already offered to take care of them).
Well done all.
The Bashers did represent over the weekend, well done fellas. Newest Basher Danny “Saint” Morrison proved he is a worthy Basher. A lot of stuff happened, much no doubt forgotten and quite a bit probably best forgotten.
First a handful of piccies to seal some of the memories are here
higher resolution versions are available of you ask BS
Secondly let’s all use the comments section here to log our choicest moments from the sixes in a kind of group hug lumberjack report.

Not only will we be the only club with our own blazers for the 6s dinner, but we will also have our very own club tie (thanks to Hammer and a few others – you know who you are). In the club colours of gold with a repeated Blue Bashers crest.
To make an impression at the dinner, we would like to suggest that we all try and stick to a club uniform of:
1. Bashers Blazer (for those that have them)
2. Bashers Tie (will post a picture later, but in the words of Chewie ‘they’re boss like’)
3. White shirt (yes with collars & sleeves, Loosey)
4. Blue jeans

Ties will be available on Saturday afternoon when (we hope) Danny Morrison will present them to all available Bashers. All at the bobby bargain price of RMB50. If you can’t make the 6s on Saturday, but want us to bring you a tie to the evening, let us know here.
See you tonight for some Kiwi ‘humour’.
Cheers

As per Sir Dicks previous posting, Raybon Kan is on tonight.
The event kicks off at 8pm at Malones on Tongren.
A once in a lifetime opportunity to see a Kiwi Comedian performing live in Malones on the 22nd October 2009.
You will literally never be able to do that again.
Training is off – so people should be able to make it down.
Let the sixes weekend start off tonight!!!
Who is in?
Guys,
We have had unprecedented response for the 6s, which is awesome. Not only do we have 15+ lads wanting to play, we also will have more guys at the dinner than Pudong / K2 combined. Its been tough trying to juggle the desire to win the 6s for the first time / participating in Bashers style / rewarding those who volunteered to umpire & score / taking Friday off work etc etc. We also have Danny Morrison requesting to play with us, which should make the whole weekend even more of a blast (listen to Podcast number 3 for a taster of things to come).
…. is that the longest title ever? Possibly.
Anyways, The SCC are holding the Welcome Drinks this Friday at Thumb Plaza from 8PM. Players from all teams are invited to partake in the looseness that will be going down. See details below:
When: Friday 23rd October

The draw is on it’s way out. Here’s a sneak preview.
This years tournament has 16 teams in the main sixes draw – divided into four groups. After two days cricket those 16 sides are split into Cup, Plate, Bowl and Spoon sections for the finals on Sunday.
Along side this is a Tri-nations Twenty-20 tournament featuring three national Ladies teams.
Finally a development league sixes comp will be run on Sunday
all the draws are available here
For those without the attention span here is a summary for the Bashers
Also of course a semi final and possibly a final on Sunday
There’s also opportunities to help out with scoring at other times (the Cup Final Sunday afternoon, Ladies Final Sunday Morning and the first Ladies match Thursday Afternoon) if anyone is willing
onward…
