WOW!

You guys are amazing! Some of you aren’t very brainy but you’re all quite generous. The result which counts is the approximately 110,000rmb raised on the night.

Thanks in particular to the selfless souls and companies who gave some great prizes, all of which were sold for as extorsional bargains by Woodstock or divvied out to some of the many rafflants (which is what i’m coining as a new word for raffle ticket buyers)

Filthy’s quiz provided a whole new twist for the sharpest minds in Shanghai to tackle and well, i’ve got a train to catch so a thousand words below to explain what happened.

The Super Ninjas finished in the medals on account of Omegas opinions resulting in a red card for Best Cold Beers. It wouldn’t be a Bashers Quiz without some controversy.

The Bashers GEOFF HOWE BENEFIT QUIZ and AUCTION NIGHT has been POSTPONED to JULY 1^st at CAMEL BAR!!!

Dear All

In case you have not already heard, the date for the Geoff Howe Benefit (World Cup Quiz Night and the Auction) has been postponed from Friday June 25^th to Thursday July 1^st. The event opens at 6.30, with the Quiz commencing at 7.30 sharp. So be there at 6.30 to organize your teams and get good tables.

We apologize for change, but please understand that the World Cup is on, and an appropriate venue has been difficult to secure arrangements for such an event. The Camel Bar have thankfully saved the day for us, and the date is especially good because it is the first in weeks WITHOUT a World Cup game scheduled.

So please inform anyone who you have previously told about this event that the date and venue have been changed. We apologize for the inconvenience, and your patience and understanding would be appreciated. We are all trying our best to support this effort.

The attached flyer shows the new time and date and return to the old venue – the Camel Bar. There are some great new prizes and we will be sending another flyer around early next week with the full updated list and description of prizes. Dear Bashers,

Thursday the 1st of July  from 6:30pm we will have our next fund-raising evening for big Geoff. He is now back in Australia beginning his long road to recovery and we need to show him  that we are in it with him for the long haul. Our contributions next Thursday will make a big difference to him and his family.

Next Thursday night will be action packed with a quick-fire quiz sprinkled with great auction items and finished off with our big raffle draw.

You  support is required and you can show it in the following ways.

1. be there
2. bring your mates
3. bring some cash to buy more raffle tickets before the final draw
4. bid large on our great auction prizes

I look forward to seeing you there. I will give you a big high five if you bring punters along who are not Bashers.

No not a whole evening of questions on Water Closets, although there may be some. No it’s the Bashers Trivia World Cup 2010.

Usually gaiety and cerebral exercise with some big old prizes in a new venue with a Filthy new quizmonster.

Bashers Soccer City located a stagger away from the Camel on Yongfu lu, Number 47, fourth floor to be exact.

Entry will be 100RMB per head again. We’ll be starting early this time so we can try to be done by 1opm when the North Koreans will invade play Côte d’Ivoire (Pothole & Made In v Oscar & Cranky). The Brazilians (Stats & Brokeback) and Portuguese (Ivo & Pusher) might have to watch their match in the gents washroom.

Also of course we’ll be drawing the final winners for the Big Geoff Benefit Raffle so really what possible reason would you have to miss this one?

Hi Guys .

After an fantastic initial burst of enthusiasm towards the Benefit , we really need help to bring home this important fund raiser for one of our brothers in need .

We need some volunteers for the following jobs crucial to making this a success

1. Next Saturday and Sunday we need ticket sellers at the SRFC grounds . If you can do a morning or afternoon , we need to take the tickets to all sports and spectators to sell as many as possible .

2. Volunteer to be Auctioneer at the Savage club Friday 25th

3. Volunteers to help set up the Savage club , its a brand new venue , with signs, tables and just to assist BS, Cranky and Me with getting organized .

4. Selling tickets at other events you will attend .

5. Any other donations for raffle or auction Prizes

We have done an amazing job so far , lets hit it out of the ground .

Amongst the madness of the Expo Quiz there was a draw for a world cup (the soccer one in SA next month – you may have heard of it) sweepstakes. The following coughed up some cash and this is the teams they got assigned. They’re all in line to win some Just beer! I see some fierce rivalry coming up at the camel over this but it’s nice to see how this may help sooth some cross-tasman tensions.

VENUE:  The Camel Bar, 1 Yueyang Road (Near Dongping Rd). STARTS: Thursday JULY 1st at 6.30pm

As some of you may have heard, Geoff ‘Slab’ Howe, our largest Basher, suffered a severe stroke 2 weeks ago and had to be airlifted to Hong Kong.

He now needs to be taken back to Australia for recovery and needs our support.

We hope to raise some serious cash to help him in what will be a long and difficult recovery. Any donations for raffle prizes or auction items ( if appropriate) will be greatly appreciated.

Record turnout! Well done everyone, especially all those new faces and our Devil friends making a good showing coming in third. The Drop Bears in disguise continue their recent form coming second. In the end the old timers in 3 seconds showed how it was done old school style with a record 500 points!

Of the twelve buzzer questions only three or four were struck with success and most of those by the winning team, learn your lessons folks. Good wildcard selection was  again proven to be important.
