Player Performances:

Shaggy ~ Roped into the Bashers squad by Truffles and Stats at Thursday drinks, and self styled as “Shaggy”. No doubt the name will change to something like “Afridi” or “Boom Boom” once he is properly welcomed into the club outdoors. He talked the talk on taxi ride, and generally delivered with his left arm spinners and smooth batting. It is true the ICC would have requested his bowling action be tested, but fortunately, the Shanghai social indoor league has slightly lower standards than international cricket. He was also by far the outstanding fielder of the day for the Bashers, or any other side!

Korean ~ a solid performance in all facets of the game, but probably strongest behind the stumps. However, one deflection onto the stumps bounced unluckily to miss a stumping! His loopy bowling caused the newby to cricket from Pudong all sorts of trouble, and he taught Messi all about not running every delivery!

Messi ~ bowled well, regularly picking up wickets and getting the ball in the right place. Lived up to his name with the bat too by scoring freely with either foot. He did take it too far by getting struck in a sensitive area, without a box, and then stayed down while Korean tried to call a single!

Long Dong ~ arrived to the arena at exactly 3pm, walked into the court and opened the bowling. Put in a solid all round effort, batting calmly with Post-Op, and even stopping a few on the back net while fielding.

Post-Op ~ dominating with the bat in hand, registering the first 7s of the winter league. The Pudong newby flirting with offside wides did manage to sneak a few past the bat though. His bowling was sluggish, probably caused by the full brunch enjoyed before play, but he was still solid, and fielded well.

Shit Shoes ~ appalling in the field, I’ll admit to missing virtually everything that was hit near me. Fortunately, did my part with the bat and ball, although one over from Alex Cummings was woefully played. Best play was sneaking one past a charging head-in-the-clouds Malpass for a easy stumping to Korean.
