Deciding to drive to SRFC – nappy changes for juniors and taking wrong turns on elevated highway placed Omega squarely in this role of reporting.

With Birdshit’s Shakespearean prose setting a new high , this report will bring it crashing back to earth .

First to drop a catch was Tiny . Then he took one by finger tips . Then he became the magnet by which all shots in the air were attracted, resulting in the Sanjay keeping his wicket and resulting in field changes until the 24th over.

Not to be outdone Long Dong did his best to impersonate a fielder with intent, only to back down with said catches falling safely.

All the time the Devils kept scoring boundaries , one of which Pitstop popped his ankle and our out fielding thus gifted even more runs as he took a hobbled spot at point.

The recent frugal bowlling of Swoop, Omega, Long Dong and Bada Bing impersonated Elvis with each conceding at least one 12 plus over and only Tiny , Swahili and Bugs keeping it tight.

In fact with 6 overs remaining and the opening bowlers brought back a flurry of wickets fell. Notably Bugs getting 3 more wickets and 2 run outs . The Devil’s Sanjay(83) pairing up with Parthiban (65 ret) but way too many dropped catches to allow them this total.

As the Leisure were whooping it up on the Main field , Omega opened with Tiny as Pitstop was injured.

New Basher Nemesis Chaitanya then took Tiny’s and Omegas wicket in the first over . First ball of his second Ghengis gave his up and for a few overs Swoop and Bada Bing resisted and put some runs on the board

It was all to be short lived . Swoop with 19 and a short cameo from Swahili with 3 boundaries and 16 runs gave a little hope but once our nemesis was re introduced with a 6 man slip cordon , the remaining batters showed little resistance and an all out total of 64 was just plain crap from a team who should do better.

A quick pep talk from the Parrot and Latex and off we set to the Far field to meet the Doosra boys ready for battle.

After a pre toss of the kooka pie box coming up heads, Bugs confidently called the toss correctly and sent the Doosra boys in to bat.

A quick fielding drill in the cloudy and breezy afternoon and off to the middle for Growler and Tiny to start the innings off against a somewhat timid batting pair with magic bats. A few umpiring anomalies regarding wides and no ball rules and the Doosra were playing and missing, swinging and snicking until Tiny broke through to draw first blood.

Growler being replaced by Tank whose first over of raw pace and accuracy was followed by his second of fruit, the Bashers fielding seemed inspired with Badabing and Pitstop notable for their accurate throws and the Korean tidy behind the stumps.

Extras contributing mostly to the score, and with the wicket keeper squealing as he dodged a low flying bat (really, this DID happen), the Doosra never really got going.

At Drinks 88 runs for 2, and already feeling defeated, the Doosra were only inspired by the gains they could make through dubious umpiring decisions.

After the break Sinbad was joined by Omega who bowled cheaply, took a wicket and watched Sinbad ….drop … well we know what happened there.

After an over of 3 LBW appeals in a row and still no runs, Bugs brought Growler back into the attack and the Doosra found things very difficult.

Swoop and Bugs were injected into the attack and again kept it tight. The Doosra ended at 7 for 168 (39 extras ) on a day made for batting.

Padding up in reply Pothole and Pitstop walked out to begin the chase and from the get go Pothole seemed to middle everything, even his defensive plods raced past the infield .

Pitsop unfortunately succumbed and fell for his first bashers Duck bringing Growler to the crease.

In a Bashers version of Face Off it was Pothole doing the swinging and Growler holding up an end as the first 50 came off 6 overs and by drinks at 1 for 110 and Pothole already past his fifty.

Special mention to Sinbad for being mis heard to yell “C’mon Butthole”  which stuck and thus our stories title .

After the break the Hole kept going where he left off and 127 runs into the partnership he eventually fell at 74 , 10 fours and a mighty 6 , it was indeed Buttholes Day .

Omega joined Growler and hitting singles to give him a chance at his fifty, Growler finally missed one and walked off with a hard fought 37.

With the game won Tiny walked in, saw 2 deliveries and then mercilessly swatted the next 2 deliveries to the long hop boundary to put the Doosra out of their misery in the 23rd over.

A very well disciplined win for the Pleasure who are still in the hunt for a 3rd spot and a berth in the Semis after the Hot Dogs lost to Pudong.

2011 Division Two

Due the SRFC double booking the grounds, a unique opportunity for those with no plans for Sunday to get on down the Big Bamboo Hongmei Rd to see the Rocking Soul and Funk review , Studio 188 .

The live music starts at 2.30 with Shades of Soul and 4.30 Studio 188 take the stage in a blitzkrieg of face melting classics from the 60′, 70′s 80′s 90′s and yes even the naughties

Come early to get a good seat and your drink on .

Studio 188, that R & B Funk and Soul sensation will be joining a cast of others to help Japan back on its feet.

O’Malleys beer garden this Sunday from 12 noon will showcase about 15 different bands from the live circuit with Studio 188 taking the stage right after the Drummer arrives from a Pleasure Victory around 7pm.

Dont know other details like costs and stuff, but will be a good way spend a recovery Sunday after the Karting Night.
