As all the important people in the world know, I’m leaving Shanghai/China this coming weekend. From next month onwards, I will be applying my trade in Bogota, Colombia. Interpret my trade as whatever you want, its probably close enough to the truth.
Since the SCC decided to cancel my testimonial match for the Leisure in preference for some other less important thing, and I was unfortunate that my wife decided to unselect me for the business in preference of shopping (I have about 50 hours of fights in the next two weeks, it was important to have the moral high ground), my testimonial match has been rescheduled to Thursday at 8pm. If you really need to know which venue, then you are not really a Basher and you can F*%# off. As per usual, I won’t participate in the prior activity, as its a waste of my time and my talents are more suited to a bar.
Lets celebrate my final POSITIVE contribution to the Bashers in a game. My first Basher’s catch. We can bash Turner and Dags for their rubbish umpiring another time.
Will probably be my last night out in Shanghai, so time to get loose. Signing off

8th May 2011
I awoke early from the bright hot sunshine striking my picturesque physique at about 6am. Alarm hadn’t gone off, so I went back to sleep for the remaining 30 minutes. The normal alarm went off, so I tried to ignore it. Unfortunately the kids were more keen to go to cricket than I was an immediately rushed me in bed to drag me out for the first Leisure game of the season. No sleep, so time to exact revenge for my lack of sleep on the poor unfortunate souls that play for The Team That May Not Be Named. (more…)
The highs and lows of cricket in Shanghai could not be better embodied than the plight of the Leisure Bashers. The ecstasy and euphoria from a thumping 10 wicket victory over Dulwich the week before was followed by the devastation and empty feeling of a 100 odd run loss to the Devils. We blame Paul ‘Terror’ Turner and Garth ‘Shania’ Muncy for their no show.
On a bright sunny afternoon, 5 bashers, 2 doggies and 3 devils rolled out of bed and found themselves waiting to play a game against the SCA XI at TongJi University. Despite severe reservations on the pitch, I mean football ground, the lack of bounce in the outfield and a rather dangerous seaming warm up delivery from Channa (the 2nd most dangerous delivery he bowled), the pitch played relatively well.
The day started with Swahili bitching about not being able to find whites in this city. The situation started to look more and more dire as more Basher’s showed up with ‘non-regulation’ equipment. It was starting to look as though the other team would start with a hundred on the board before a ball was bowled. Fortunately, the Business XI were kind enough to allow some of the disorganised Pleasure Bashers to get into their wet white pants so they could take to the field.
