Business Bashers vs Dogs match report
The Business side approached the game on this sweltering 38*C day in their usual manner – the bus waited for Sinbad at the Camel before making a late departure. Spirits were high however, and the Dogs had rued the day they last stepped onto the wicket against us.
“Captain-for-a(nother)-day” Filthy Mildenhall won the toss and elected to bat first, rejecting the Hotdog’s offer for same-end bowling in the process. The hope was that shear heat stress would wear down the opposition with field changes adding pressure to the Doggies in the midday sun. With only three regular Business players due to take the field and the bulk of the rest made up of new players and Pleasure upgrades, the day was always going to be a bit of an unknown quantity. Guys, after been led in circles on a wild goose chase, we still don’t know where the Breezer Trophy is being kept. Some THINK they saw it at Camel. Can anyone state when they last saw it, and where. LAMMA CC are visiting this weekend to play for the Trophy, and we need to find it by then. What a debacle…
Guys the time is almost upon us again and we need expressions of interest for attending this years event. Last year we lost to the eventual tournament Premiers by just 2 points! (before being relegated out of contention for the finals but winning the drinking instead.)
Its bound to be a rage, and we hope to do a much better this year. It is close to the date of the Xiamen event, and also to Christmas, so we need to check if we have the numbers. If you would like to come, or if you are a past regular who can’t attend, please make yourself known on the blog. Meanwhile, I look unlikely to make it due to work commitments, so if you can put your hand up for Tour Manager then please also let me know. I will provide details and contacts and support in the organizing leading up to the tour.
This event is part of the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour – for more info please access HERE for details.
So far we have the following “expressions of interest”:
However based on last years effort, we can expect most of you to find out you are not available after all, some realising this the last week before the tournament starts.
For this reason we will need confirmations in by 5pm Thursday 29 October of those who are now able to commit. I will call those in the above list tomorrow. Others not listed above will get no further notice or offer. The squad will be selected from those confirmed in THIS confirmation list at the Big Bamboo after training tomorrow. If you are interested and your name is not already down you need to add it to this blog NOW.
Those selected will then need to pay a RMB1000 deposit by 8pm Thursday 5th November (non-refundable – if you pull out after that your money goes in the tour drinks kitty, with no exceptions). If you fail to pay the deposit by then your place will be offered to others.
For those who do not know the arrangements, the squad will fly together Thursday 3rd Dec around 5pm and fly back around 9pm Sunday 6th. We will be staying in the official Tourn hotel (TBA) for around HK500 each/per night for twin share, or HK900 if you want your own room. The team’s tournament entry fees have been kindly covered by our sponsors (Big Bamboo) so the Hotel and Flight are your only fixed expenses.
