First game of the season and it was a miracle that 12 guys arrived, seemingly coherently,  at The Camel @ 7:45 on a Sunday morning. Anticipation was high for the season opener, as high as the gentlemen who was exposing himself opposite our meeting point, and then proceeding to fight a bouncer at The Dragon Club [no, surprisingly it wasn't Circus]. Things started to go sideways very quickly as the bus driver proceeded to get us lost on the way to the ground, leaving us a 2 min window to warm up [with another beer] and, as it turned out, lose the toss and get sent into bat. The Kiwis are sputting chups this morning about John Howard being put forward for the spot of Deputy President of the International Cricket Council, with the likelihood he’ll take over the top job in 2012.

The New Zealand Herald this morning lamented: “Cricket: ‘Fan’ with no cricket experience gets top job.” The paper wondered what “Australian heavying” went on behind closed doors to secure Howard over NZC Chairman Sir John Anderson. (more…)

1. Take a bottle of Captain Morgan’s Rum, preferably stolen or procured through grey means.

2. Open cap. Taste for testing purposes.Take another swig just to be sure its not poisoned. And another one…

3. Take a cricketing box. Preferably used. Remove pubic hair.

4. Add a splash of ‘Tui’ Beer.

5. Add straw and ‘GET ON THE PISS SOME MORE’!

The End of Season function/Awards Night is upon us once again, and its our time to reflect on a WONDERFUL year of highlights, both on and off the Ground! This year, following last years antics, we’ve decided to turn it up a few degrees and get ‘Loose & Local‘!

Date: Friday 27th November 2009

Location: Ya Ke Xi Xinjiang Restaurant, 379 Xikang Road [near WuDing Lu]. 西康路379号靠近武定路

Time: 6:30 PM kickoff

Cost: 150 RMB for a smorgasbord of wonderful ‘local‘ cuisine and ‘loose‘ drinks [free flow VB, with spirits, mixers and the like in there as well!]

Dress Code: Loose, but local!

This is the occasion where we award ourselves for our efforts during the year, and vote on the upcoming years committee. 150 RMB is a great deal for a great feed, all you can drink, a night with mates and collectively patting each other on the back.

Last year we had 30+ punters at the end of season function, as we are only 2 blocks north of the Big Bamboo this year, I would expect we can push 50+ punters in the room! We Own the place for the night, so LET’S GET AMONGST IT! There’ll be belly dancers, singers and maybe a few suprises thrown inbetween!
