Time to show some love for our sponsor, who is up for best sports bar in That’s Shanghai’s Eighth Annual Food & Drinks Awards.
Also up for awards are a couple of Bashers-run establishments: Mat “Santa” Ryan and Alan “Here’s Da Ting” Duffy’s Cuvée for best wine bar and Sandeep “Mr. Tickle” Abichandani’s Kebab’s on the Grille for best Indian.

There is an excellent article and video on CNN on the origins of baseball.
“An extract from an 18th-century diary containing the oldest known reference to baseball is among the items on display in a new exhibition in London exploring the English origins and cricketing connections of America’s national sport.
“While baseball was once claimed to have been invented in the U.S. in the mid-19th century, recent findings suggest a sport of the same name may have evolved decades earlier alongside cricket, crossing the Atlantic with English settlers to the American colonies.”
Training is on weather permitting. (Address here)

A message from the SCC regarding playing games over the May and June holidays. Please reply below if you are available during the holiday so we can assess numbers and see if we’ll be able to get some cricket in.
To: All Teams,
From: Mike Tsesmelis
All,
Owing to the SRFC pitch situation, we now have a lot of pressure on the schedule. We may be able to make it up later on, but it will mean that teams don’t play many games – 15 teams with a maximum of 4 matches per weekend, not allowing for public holidays or weekends when either Dulwich or SRFC is unavailable due to events.
One way to ease this would be to play over the May holiday weekend, and the public holiday weekend of June 16th. We could rack up loads of games then as Saturdays and Sundays may be available. I know some people will be away but it will be the same for both sides. It is also unlikely that one or two key players being away for one game is going to affect the season greatly… (more…)
